Science of People -Soft Skills Matter
The strongest professionals today are not just experts.
They’re fluent cross-functionally, interpersonally, and strategically.
In other words: Soft skills are in demand.
Being an adaptive and dynamic professional who can flex between technical acumen and interpersonal communication is a requirement for most leadership positions.
The great news is, for our data-loving scientists and physicians, there are many resources available to help hone these softer skills.
One of our favorite resources for a better understanding and education around soft skills and communication is Vanessa Van Edwards.
She is the founder of Science of People and has an academic lab to study people and their behaviors. She has written the books How to Captivate and Cues, which explore the attributes of charisma and how to read people—body language, eye contact, facial expressions, where to sit in a room for authority, and how to build trust and credibility, focusing a lot on the softer skills. Along with her books, Vanessa has many articles on her website and her YouTube channel is a wealth of information.
